Reverse Gear Problem

just had a second hand gear selector fitted?, but 4 weeks later finding it hard to get reverse gear?, sometimes it goes straight in,other times if i stop engine and engage gear it works? getting fed up with old gal, does any one know what the problem could be,would it be costly. thanks for any info from all you good galaxy owners,

hi there you might just need to adjust the selector at the gear side its a fine adjustment between getting gears and not try it and see if it works

Put the car details in your signature then we'll know what box you have ;)

 

Its a different procedure for the auto box and also different between the manual 5 and 6 speed boxes.

If car is engaging gear OK without engine running that would suggest clutch is not clearing and may not be related to previous problem
